DMCA & Content Removal

The images themselves

Every image on UARTSIFARTSI is one of the finite set of possible w × h black-and-white pixel grids. It exists at a fixed, mathematically-determined address whether or not anyone visits it. The images are not authored by us or by any user and are not the subject of a valid copyright claim.

User-submitted names

What users add are names attached to those images. If a submitted name reproduces text you hold rights to (for example, a longer copyrighted phrase), or discloses private personal information about you, you can request removal.

The fastest path

Every image page has a "report" affordance next to each name. Use that first — reports go directly to our moderators.

Formal DMCA notice

If you prefer to file a DMCA notice, please send one that includes:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
  3. The exact URL(s) on UARTSIFARTSI where the infringing material appears (e.g. https://uartsifartsi.org/img/3/3/170) and the specific submitted name at issue.
  4. Your name, address, telephone number, and email.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

Send notices through the contact channels linked from the about page. We aim to review complete notices within a few business days.

Counter-notice

If your submission was removed and you believe the removal was in error or misidentification, you may file a counter-notice with the same information plus a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification, and consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate federal court.

Repeat infringers

Accounts that repeatedly submit infringing content will be terminated.
